A HEFTY RETURN ON INVESTMENT

Marine Corp veteran, Johnny Bobbitt made a $20.00 investment to a stranded motorist and has received a HEFTY RETURN on his investment.

Bobbitt, homeless spotted Kate McClure pull over to the side of the road and he realized something was wrong.  McClure had run out of gas on Interstate 95 on her way to Philadelphia.  Bobbitt told her to stay in her car and lock the doors (I can only imagine what emotions were running through her mind at the time) but she did what he said; and Bobbitt a 34 year old Marine veteran returned with a gas can and giving her the last money he collected while panhandling.  This homeless man that sleeps under the overpass every day took the time to help a stranger and get her on her way safely.

But this story gets even better, McClure could not forget this man’s sacrifice and had to do something.  Her and her boyfriend visited Bobbitt several times to deliver gift cards, cash, snacks and toiletries, she told ABC News last month. But they wanted to do more, the couple decided to create a GoFundMe page for Bobbitt so he wouldn’t have to spend the holidays sleeping on the street.  McClure started the GoFundMe page on Nov. 10 with a humble goal of $10,000 telling their story, and within days surpassed the $10,000.00 goal which has grown to over $300,000.00 and is still growing.

Not only getting him off the streets but giving him his life back.  Bobbitt said, “The feeling is indescribable and it’s all thanks to the support and generosity that each and every one of you has shown,” Bobbitt wrote of purchasing a new home and the vehicle of his dreams. “I’ll continue to thank you every single day for the rest of my life”.  Not only off the streets for the holidays but permanently.  Mr. Bobbitt is also looking forward to paying forward and helping others.

I don’t know why this homeless man gave his last to help a stranger, and I don’t know why this stranger couldn’t just return the $20.00 with some change and “A thank you.”

I am sure when Kate McClure was approached by Bobbitt her first thought was not, “Oh here’s some help”.  Running out of gas on a busy interstate and a homeless man approach you is the stuff of real life horror stories and this encounter had all the elements of one but it took a different turn.

I don’t believe in chance encounters, I believe this was pre-ordained to bless others.  A return on small investments and we all have opportunities, not just during the holidays, but every day to invest in someone else.  We don’t know how our investments can produce a HEFTY RETURN in our lives and perhaps a ripple effect in the lives of others.
